Part 4: Interview practice

Practice interviews

For many candidates, their interview at Oxford or Cambridge may be their first ever interview.  And even those who have had interviews before can find it a daunting process. Both Oxford and Cambridge recommend practising being in an interview situation:

Practise talking about your work and discussing your interests and opinions

We recommend that you...organise a practice interview for yourself. This could be with a teacher or someone else who is familiar with your subject, but preferably not someone you know very well. This will help you to get some more experience of talking about yourself and your work in an unfamiliar environment

At Oxbridge Interviews, we provide interview preparation sessions and practice interviews for pupils applying to Oxford and Cambridge. Our interviewers are top recent Oxbridge graduates who specialise in your subject and have gone through the Oxbridge interview process themselves.

But whether you choose our service or not, we recommend you do get some practice, so that you feel comfortable in an interview environment. This doesn't mean you should learn responses off by heart - this is a turn off for interviewers. But it does mean you get to feel comfortable being asked questions, and being confident and calm enough to do yourself justice.
