Types of interview
We provide two types of interviews. Please click on the links to book an interview. For
their real interview, Oxbridge candidates will be interviewed by a
tutor or don who will ask challenging questions specific to the
subject. Our Subject Interviews replicate this, and are the next step
up from our Personal Statement Interviews.
Our Subject Interviews:
- Are conducted by a specialist in your subject, who has studied the subject to a high degree level at Oxbridge
- Focus on the types of subject-specific questions you will be asked at your interview
- Are an excellent way of testing and thoroughly preparing yourself for the real interview
All
candidates have to submit a Personal Statement when applying to
university. Interviewers at Oxford and Cambridge use the Personal
Statement as a basis for interview questions, and thus it is important
to practice answering questions based on your Statement.
Our Personal Statement Interviews:
- Are conducted by interviewers who are highly trained in providing Personal Statement interviews
- Focus on the Personal Statement rather than the subject, with questions analysing and probing the Statement
- Are a good introduction to the interview process, testing the interviewee under pressure, and helping to boost confidence
In order to ensure high quality of interviews, we currently specialise in a select number of subjects. If we don't cater for your subject, we recommend taking a Personal Statement interview.
Duration
Our interviews are 30 minutes, which mirrors a typical Oxbridge interview. This is followed by 15 minutes feedback.
Feedback
The feedback session encompasses oral and
written assessment of your performance, along with practical recommendations
of how to improve.
During the interview, your interviewer will
fill in our feedback form (specially designed by an Oxbridge don) which will
assess your performance against selected criteria that Oxbridge colleges
look for.
At the end of the interview, your
interviewer will review this with you in depth, advising on areas of
improvement.
Filming
We offer a film of the interview. This enables the student, parents and teacher to further analyse interview performance.
