Preparation Sessions
In addition to
Practice Interviews
we also provide Interview Preparation Sessions to help you to prepare
for your interviews. We offer two types of preparation session.
Oxford and Cambridge highlight the importance
of preparing for your interview. Our Interview Preparation Day has been
designed in association with a former Oxbridge tutor to help you to prepare
effectively for your interview.
The Interview Preparation Day has been carefully crafted to enable
candidates to maximise their potential at university interviews. The Preparation
Day includes:
- A talk on what to expect at your university interview,
delivered by a former Oxbridge tutor. This investigates the criteria that tutors
and dons are looking for from candidates
- A session on the types of questions you may be asked at your
interview, and helps you to think about how you might answer these questions
- A workshop on how to handle a set text you may be given
before an interview, or activity-based questions you may be asked in an
interview. This offers strategies for approaching such exercises at your
interview
- A workshop on how to handle nerves you may feel at
interview and boost your confidence
- The opportunity to have a mini-practice interview with one
of our recent Oxbridge graduate interviewers. This will help you to put into
practice what you have learnt on the Interview Preparation Day. The
personalised feedback is specifically designed to give you action points to
help you to continue to prepare effectively for your interviews
As part of our philosophy to provide bespoke support for all
the pupils we support we limit our Interview Preparation Day to twenty pupils.

Friday 29th October 2010 11am-5pm at the Dragon School, Oxford.
Our One-to-One Preparation Sessions have been designed in
association with a former Oxbridge tutor and provide a focused opportunity to gain
individualised, one-to-one support in your university interview preparation.
The hour-and-a-quarter session is run by one of our experienced Oxbridge educated senior management team. The session covers:
- The motivations behind your application to Oxford or
Cambridge. This looks into the questions that are often asked at the beginning
of an Oxbridge interview, and helps you to think about how you might best
answer these questions
- An
analysis of the skills that Oxford and Cambridge look for,
and what skills you need to develop. You will be given a news item
related to your subject and will be asked challenging questions based
on this.
This will be an opportunity to demonstrate your analytical skills,
independent
thought, capacity to make a case and defend a point of view, to think
on your feet
and respond to challenges - criteria which tutors and dons look for
- How you come across at interview - your personality, body language and presentation
- A personalised action plan for you to put into practice
before your real interview
You will be given oral feedback throughout the session and will have the opportunity to discuss questions you have on the
interview process. You will be sent an in-depth written feedback form shortly
after the preparation session which our pupils often choose to review further with their parents
and teachers. We will be on hand for the fortnight after the session to
answer any further questions you have by email or phone.
As part of our philosophy to provide bespoke support for all
the pupils we support we have a limited number of One-to-One Preparation
Sessions:
| Sunday 12th September 2010 | London |
| Saturday 23rd October 2010 | London |
| Sunday 24th October 2010 | London |
| Saturday 20th November 2010 | Oxford |

Many
pupils find it helpful to have a practice interview
after their preparation sessions. A practice interview with one of
interviewers who studied your subject at Oxford or Cambridge helps
pupils to put into
practice what they have learnt in their preparation session. For more
information
on this please see our Packages.
